Stage 1

Students in Stage 1 (Year 1 and Year 2) have made sense of the school library and know, for example, the difference between fiction and non-fiction texts. They are also beginning to use more technology in the library, such as accessing online resources. This is therefore the time when students begin exploring the concept of information literacy: knowing how to identify and use accurate information found in books, websites and other media.

In Term 1, 2020, Stage 1 students will start digging deeper into how to more effectively use the library as a learning resource. Term 1 focuses strongly on developing the students' Information Literacy skills so they can be well prepared for research-based assignments later in the year.
